Public Spaces & Streetscapes

We build footpaths, vehicle crossings, cycleways, skateparks, decorative and functional features using a range of specialist concrete techniques and finishes.

Contrax has delivered some of New Zealand’s most stunning and technically challenging public spaces and streetscape construction projects, including Auckland CBD’s Wynyard Quarter upgrade, the construction of Tirorama Way (East West Lane Way, Halsey Street), Westgate’s Town Centre Park and the ‘next generation neighbourhood’ at Smales Farm on Auckland’s North Shore.

Contrax is the preferred hard and soft landscaping contractor for a wide range of clients and design consultants because we deliver the whole project, managed by a single project manager. That means one point of contact and full accountability.  Our experienced carpenters, concreters, pavers, steel fixers, block layers, landscapers, supervisors and engineers and project managers enable us to meet and exceed our clients’ programmes and deadlines.

With over 90 full-time employees, Contrax has the flexibility to allocate the skilled tradespeople and resources required to meet the demands of every project. We self-deliver every component of streetscape construction from a basic concrete footpath to high-end basalt paving and timber boardwalks to the same high standard. Our specialist division provides all soft landscaping from soil works and grassed areas to visually appealing and calming sustainable features such as rain gardens and green walls.

Our problem-solving approach underpins the strong track record we have built for delivering successful high-profile, innovative streetscape projects.  We can tackle highly technical, difficult to access and environmentally sensitive projects often incorporating sustainable design features and bespoke construction methods and techniques, including tree planters, street furniture, below-ground gardens, purposeful puddles and a wide range of decorative and plain concrete.
